I am thrilled to add Meriwether Denman, LPC to my practice this Fall of 2025. Here is Meriwether’s description of her approach to this work:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and earned my master’s degree in the International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health program at the University of Denver. I am also currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Denver, pursuing my Psy.D.
I was trained in trauma psychology and global mental health with an emphasis on systems and cultural influences. From this training and previous work with children, adults, and couples, I approach therapy with the view that human connection and relationships are vital to emotional well-being and vitality. I also see that many times, relationships can bring out some of our trickiest patterns and deepest conflicts. I believe that many of these problematic patterns in one’s life began as adaptive strivings, however, may be outdated and contributing to feeling stuck. I enjoy helping clients understand these dynamics and rework them so they can feel more authentic in themselves and more connected in their relationships.
My approach to therapy blends relational, systems, and psychodynamic orientations. I try to foster a therapeutic relationship that feels authentic, warm, and collaborative, and secure enough to take risks. I believe that exploring how existing patterns may show up between us in the therapy room is where some of the most important growth can happen. I have specialized training in trauma psychology, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and EMDR.
